James M. Thompson, M.D. earned his medical degree from
the University of Kentucky where he also completed his
internship. He completed his Neurology residency at the
University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas.
Returning to the University of Kentucky, Dr. Thompson
completed a Neurophysiology Fellowship. He is Board
Certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG,
Evoked Potentials), Electrodiagnostic Studies (EMG/NVC),
and Sleep Medicine. During his medical education, he
earned several academic awards and held several
positions at the University of Kentucky Medical School.
He is the medical director of the Sleep Disorders Center
and is active in the Kentucky Sleep Society. Dr.
